Customize pages with userscripts and extensions

Install and manage userscripts and extensions in Inling Browser. Learn how installation sources and API compatibility differ on HarmonyOS, iOS and Android.

Two different ways to extend browsing

A userscript is typically JavaScript that runs on matching pages to change styling or behavior. A browser extension may also include background logic, settings pages, popups and browser APIs. Running a userscript does not establish support for an equivalent desktop extension.

Inling's release notes describe script installation from links and files, manual editing, enable and disable controls, removal and updates. A script's behavior still depends on the APIs it needs and the structure of its target page.

Platform differences matter

On HarmonyOS, release notes describe opening a downloaded CRX to begin installation. On iOS / iPadOS, they describe Chrome Web Store installation and selecting local extension packages, with limited support for some APIs because of the system browser engine. On Android, use the extension store available inside the app and check that platform's compatibility.

These are documented installation paths, not a compatibility whitelist. Do not assume that every desktop Chrome extension works, or that an extension with the same name works identically across systems. Follow the platform installation guides (Chinese).

Inspect, test and troubleshoot

Check the source, matching sites, permissions and update location before enabling a script. Test on a single intended page first. If a page breaks, disable recent additions one at a time and reload to identify the cause. Script installation steps are available in Chinese.

The AI assistant can help draft a script, but generated code requires the same review. Disabling AI leaves existing scripts and extensions available.

Sync does not guarantee portability

Sync can restore extension listings, sources and state, with installation from compatible sources. It does not guarantee that any local package is transferred and runs on another operating system. Some extensions need reinstallation or cannot work on the destination platform.
